The wide sandy stretch among the pines
Pachis lies on the northwestern coast of Thasos, in the area of Skala Rachoniou, a few kilometres west of Limenas. It is a large sandy beach with a dense pine forest that reaches down to the sand and provides plenty of natural shade.
The name 'Pachis', meaning 'thick' or 'broad', is attributed by local accounts to the very breadth of the shore, to the wide, generous band of sand that sets it apart. The pines that frame it descend to the beachfront and make up its most distinctive feature.
It is organized, with beach bars, sunbeds and umbrellas, tavernas nearby, parking and easy access, and in 2025 it was among the spots listed for seasonal lifeguard coverage. The road leading to it is surfaced.
