The Makryammos of Kinira that became 'Paradise'

Paradeisos (Paradise Beach) stretches along the eastern coast of Thasos, in an enclosed bay near the village of Kinira, with fine sand and a pine-clad slope behind it. It was formerly known as Makryammos Kiniron, and it is said to have taken its international name in the early 1980s, from a refreshment bar that opened on the shore.

The neighbouring village of Kinira has a long history, and together with the area of Palaiochori it sits on the eastern side of Thasos, a part of the island with an old tradition of ore mining. Behind the beach, the dense pine forest descends almost to the water and gives the cove the exotic look that inspired its name.

It is a large, organized beach with beach bars, sunbeds and umbrellas, a taverna nearby and parking, and in 2025 it was among the spots listed for seasonal lifeguard coverage. Access is by a surfaced road.

About this beach

Paradisos is exposed in the meltemi — often choppy on summer N/NE days. That comes from the measured shape of the coastline around it and our curated wind records — a seasonal picture, not a live forecast, so check live wind and waves before you go.

The bay at Paradisos opens to the east, so it usually has natural cover from northerly, north-easterly and north-westerly winds.

Paradisos has sand underfoot with shallow, gently shelving water — handy for families with young children.

For amenities, Paradisos has an organised beach, a beach bar, sunbeds, natural shade, parking nearby and food nearby.
