Pines to the sand, close to Limenas
Glykadi is a sandy beach on the northern coast of Thasos, a few kilometres from Limenas, the island's capital. Dense pines descend almost to the sand and cast their shade over the shore, while the sand shifts from fine to coarser grains.
Nearby Limenas is built over the ancient city of Thasos, which flourished in the Classical and Hellenistic eras. Glykadi belongs to the string of pine-clad shores that define the northern side of the island, where the forest reaches down to the sea.
It is organized, with a beach bar, sunbeds, umbrellas and parking. Access is by paved road, north of Limenas.
