Psili Ammos lies on southern Thasos, a few kilometres east of Potos and far from Limenas, in a bay open to the southwest. Its name describes it exactly: the remarkably fine, almost powder-like sand that covers both the shore and the seabed.
The story of this beach is above all a geological one, tied to the quality of its ground: the sand here is among the finest-grained on Thasos, an island known since antiquity for its white marble. The strand is fairly short but wide, and has become one of the most recognisable spots on the southern coast.
It is organised, with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as parking. The municipality's 2025 lifeguard-coverage study lists it among the sections with a seasonal lifeguard presence. Access is by paved road.
