The bay with the Russian name

Rosogremos lies on the southern coast of Thasos, about two kilometres east of Potos, a long and wide stretch of sand framed by dense pines that reach almost to the water. Its name joins the Greek words for "Russian" and "gremos" (cliff), and tradition holds it recalls Russian ships that once anchored in the bay.

Nearby Potos, the seaside village, was once the "skala", the harbour of the mountain village of Theologos, from which its fishermen and herders kept their link to Kavala on the mainland. The beach spreads beneath a green hillside, the pines coming down to the sand and casting their shade across the shore.

It is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a seasonally operating beach bar, along with parking. Access is by paved road near Potos.
