The town beach below the Palataki
Limenaria is the long beach of the town of the same name, the second largest on Thasos, on the island's southwest coast. It stretches in front of the town, with fine and coarse sand and both organized and free sections.
The town grew in the early 20th century around the local mines, worked by the German Speidel company from 1905. Above the bay stands the "Palataki" (little palace), the two-storey building with a tower at each end, built in 1903 as the company offices to designs by the Italian architect Arigoni and abandoned in 1963. Since 1982 it has been a listed monument.
Along the shore and around it there are tavernas, cafes and parking, while access is by paved road through the town of Limenaria.
