The golden sands at the edge of Karystos
Psili Ammos stretches along the eastern edge of Karystos in southern Evia, just a few minutes from the town centre. It owes its name to the exceptionally fine golden sand that covers the whole shore for roughly three hundred metres, and local sources also refer to it as the beach of Kavos.
Facing south, it opens onto the bay of Karystos, with the bulk of Mount Ochi rising behind the town. At either end, low rocks run into the sea and break the sweep of sand, lending the landscape a more picturesque character, while the middle remains clear, open sand.
The beach is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas and canteens close by; the water is shallow, and access is via a paved road that reaches close to the shore, with roadside or nearby parking.
