The little harbor with pines down to the sand
Porto Pefko lies in northwestern Evia, just outside Agios Nikolaos near Aidipsos, on the road toward Gialtra. It is a sandy beach at the head of a bay, with pine trees reaching almost down to the shore, which is evidently how it got its name, "the harbor of the pines".
The meeting of pine forest and sand gives the place its character, with natural shade in parts of the beach. The wider Aidipsos area is one of northern Evia's best-known destinations, famed since antiquity for the thermal springs of Loutra Aidipsou, a few kilometres away.
The beach is organized, with seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas, a beach bar, seasonal showers and WC, a canteen or cafe close by, and parking. The road is paved up to near the shore, the sand shifts from fine to coarser, and the water is of medium depth.
