The broad Aegean bay beneath the slopes
Limnionas of Psachna opens on the east coast of central Evia, below the villages of Agia Sofia and Myloi, about 45 kilometres northeast of Chalkida. It should not be confused with its namesake in southern Evia: this is a long Aegean shore, with a length reported at around 600 metres.
The scene is defined by slopes descending steeply to the sea and a large rock that divides the bay into two beaches, with the smaller cove, Limnionaki, at one end. The shore is laid with coarse dark sand and pebbles washed by the Aegean, and the place has long been a favourite summer destination for Psachna and the surrounding villages.
The beach is not organized, so umbrellas and mats are brought along. The road reaches close to the shore via a winding route through Kontodespoti and Agia Sofia, with parking above the beach, while a canteen, cafe and taverna are reported in the zone just above the shore.
