The sandy cove of Petries
Klimaki lies on the eastern coast of Evia, about two kilometres from Petries and next to Agioi Apostoloi, at the boundary between central and southern Evia. It is a small cove of white sand facing southeast towards the Aegean, with rocks at its edges and tamarisks along the top of the beach.
A small holiday settlement has grown up around the beach; it was officially recorded as a separate settlement for the first time in 1991 and counts about twenty permanent residents. A small islet rises to the southeast of the cove, while the little harbour of Agioi Apostoloi and the village of Petries with its tavernas are a short distance away.
In summer it operates as an organized beach, with seasonal sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar and a canteen, and a restaurant and taverna nearby. Access is easy by car on a paved road, with parking near the shore, and the seabed combines fine and coarser sand.
