Ritsa at Kardamyli
Ritsa is the main beach of Kardamyli, in the Messinian Mani, a pebbly shore just a few metres from the settlement. It runs for about one kilometre of white pebbles, set among olive trees.
Kardamyli became internationally known through the British travel writer Patrick Leigh Fermor, who lived and wrote here until his death in 2011, at the age of 96. His house, built in an olive grove just outside the village, was restored and opened to the public in 2020 as a study centre, managed by the Benaki Museum.
The beach is partly organized, with umbrellas and sunbeds in season across sections and tavernas with cafes nearby. Access is by a paved road with parking close by, over pebble ground.
