Divari, the Golden Beach

Divari, also known as the Golden Beach, stretches along the Bay of Navarino near Gialova, a long sandy beach that reaches 4 kilometres. It separates the bay from the Gialova lagoon.

The shore lies within a Natura 2000 network area and is one of the spots where the caretta caretta sea turtle makes its nests. Beside it spreads the Gialova lagoon, a wetland home to more than 270 bird species, while it was in this same bay that the naval Battle of Navarino was fought in 1827. At its edge stands the old castle of Navarino, the Palaiokastro.

The beach has multiple access points by paved road and parking, with seasonal organization in sections, umbrellas, sunbeds and a beach bar. There is camping nearby, while it has no natural shade.
