The Kalamata seafront

The beach of Kalamata is the city's central urban shore, running along Navarinou Street, about 2.5 kilometres long with pebbles and coarse sand. It spreads across the heart of the Messinian Gulf.

This is the lively waterfront of the capital of Messinia, with a long seaside promenade for walking and cycling. Sections of it have been awarded the Blue Flag, in the Anastasi area and at the eastern end of the shore.

Along its length are beach bars, cafes and restaurants, with umbrellas and sunbeds in season, showers and WC. There is shade and parking nearby, with easy access from the city.
