Kapsali's second shore
Piso Gialos is the second shore of Kapsali, at the southernmost tip of Kythira, spread toward the eastern arm of the double bay, where the low hill with the lighthouse rises. Its name says it all: it is the 'back' shore, the bay's second curve after the settlement's main beach, with coarse sand and pebbles.
It shares its backdrop with the rest of Kapsali: the Venetian Castle of Chora towers overhead, the lighthouse of 1853, from the era of the Ionian State, stands at the mouth of the bay, and the settlement, documented since the 15th century, unfolds between the two shores. Kapsali's twin bay, shaped like the letter omega, is one of the most photographed views on Kythira.
The shore is organized seasonally with umbrellas and sunbeds, water sports operate, and the cafes, tavernas and shops of the settlement are a short distance away. A paved road reaches close to the beach, with street or nearby parking.
