Three coves and a rock arch
Kaladi stretches along the east coast of Kythira, a little south of Paleopoli, and is consistently counted among the island's most celebrated beaches. It is not a single shore but three successive pebble coves separated from one another by rocks.
Its trademark is the great rock standing in the sea that forms a natural arch, while descriptions mention a sea cave at the last cove. Neighbouring Paleopoli is identified by scholars with Skandeia, the ancient harbour town of Kythira, and tradition holds that Aphrodite rose from the waters of this stretch of coast.
The beach remains entirely unorganized, with no fixed facilities. A short local road leads to a parking area above the shore, and from there a stone stairway of more than a hundred steps brings you down, so whatever you need for the day you carry with you.
