The pebbly shore below Karavas

Fourni lies on the north coast of Kythira, below the village of Karavas, a shore of pebbles and coarse sand facing northeast. It is reached off the road that links Karavas with neighbouring Platia Ammos.

Karavas, one of the island's northernmost villages, is built amphitheatrically on a green hillside with springs and running water, its architecture recalling the Peloponnese across the strait. The village itself does not touch the sea, so Fourni serves as one of its natural outlets to the coast, together with Platia Ammos. Local guides often describe the beach as one of the island's most unaffected, bohemian corners.

The beach is not organized, but the road is paved almost to the shore and there is parking close by. A seasonal canteen is reported in the summer months, while a taverna and a cafe are a short distance away.
