The small golden cove of west Sithonia

Koviou beach lies on the west coast of Sithonia in Halkidiki, about five kilometres south of Nikiti on the road to Neos Marmaras. It is a small cove of fine golden sand and shallow water, just north of the well-known Kalogria, and it keeps a lower profile than the headline beaches of this coast.

Its character is simple and natural: low green slopes run down to the sea, and at both ends of the cove the sand gives way to rocks where the seabed invites exploring with a mask. A hotel behind the beach is reported to run the organized section, while the two ends remain free for those who prefer to bring their own umbrella.

It is organized seasonally, with sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and changing rooms, and there is a small parking area above the beach. The road is paved almost to the shore, close to the main Nikiti-Neos Marmaras road.
