The sandy shore by Nea Kallikrateia
Vergia beach lies in the Nea Kallikrateia area, on the northwestern coast of Halkidiki, about forty kilometres from Thessaloniki. It is a long stretch of fine golden sand fronting the small settlement of the same name, with greenery and low hills around it.
Neighbouring Nea Kallikrateia, as the "Nea" in its name attests, was founded by refugees in the 1920s and grew into one of the liveliest seaside hubs of western Halkidiki. Vergia keeps a lower key, with the feel of a small settlement and walks along the shore.
The beach is partly organized: some sections have seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas, while elsewhere open space remains. Tavernas and cafes are close by, access is via a paved road with parking nearby or on the street, and the water in front of the sand is shallow. It is among the shores awarded the Blue Flag for 2026.
