White sand facing Mount Athos
Platanitsi lies on the east coast of Sithonia, about five kilometres north of Sarti, in a small natural cove near the easternmost point of the peninsula. Its shore runs for around five hundred metres, with fine white sand alternating with small corners and smooth pale rocks.
The landscape belongs to the same band of white granite formations that characterises eastern Sithonia, while across the Singitic gulf rises Mount Athos, which dominates the beach's horizon. Platanitsi is among the local shores awarded a Blue Flag, and behind it operates a large organized campsite that has shaped the beach's present character as a summer destination of the Sarti area.
The beach is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar in the summer season, fine sand, and pines in places offering natural shade. Access is by road through the camping zone, with parking nearby, and cafes and tavernas a short distance away.
