The sandy shore below the plane trees, facing Athos

Platania stretches along eastern Sithonia, about a kilometre south of Sarti towards Sykia, with open views across to the Athos peninsula. Its name points to the plane trees of the area, which are said to shade the parking area behind the shore.

It is a wide sandy beach split into two parts, the main one and a smaller stretch further south, with thick greenery coming down to the sand. The seabed is also sandy and deepens gradually, a typical trait of the coast around Sarti.

Parts of the beach are organized in season, with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, and a cafe operates nearby. The sand shifts from fine to coarser, the water is shallow, and the paved road reaches close to the shore, with parking alongside. On the sand itself natural shade is minimal.
