The northern sands of Neos Marmaras

Paradisos is the northern beach of Neos Marmaras in Sithonia, Halkidiki, a sandy stretch of roughly one kilometre at the entrance to the town. Its name reflects its lush setting: small coves and sandy strips alternate beneath hillsides of pine and olive.

Neos Marmaras was founded in the mid-1920s by refugees from the island of Marmara in the Propontis, seafarers and fishermen who chose the site for its bond with the sea. Paradisos, lined with lodgings, restaurants and beach bars, remains to this day the most touristic frontage of that story, and the shore is among the Blue Flag awarded beaches.

The beach is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar in season, while its terrain mixes fine and coarser sand and the water is shallow near the shore. Cafes and tavernas are close by, access is via a paved road, and there is parking or street parking nearby.

About this beach

Paradisos usually stays sheltered when the meltemi blows. That comes from the measured shape of the coastline around it and our curated wind records — a seasonal picture, not a live forecast, so check live wind and waves before you go.

The shoreline at Paradisos faces west, so it usually has natural cover from northerly, north-easterly and north-westerly winds.

Paradisos has sand underfoot with shallow, gently shelving water — handy for families with young children.

For amenities, Paradisos has an organised beach, a beach bar, sunbeds, parking nearby and food nearby. There is a campsite nearby (Marmaras Camping, ~569 m).
