The Kriaritsi sands facing the open Aegean
Kristina beach lies on the southeastern coast of Sithonia, Halkidiki, on the shore between Sykia and Kriaritsi. Its name is said to be linked to the Christina campsite operating in the Kriaritsi area, and this is how it appears on maps and in travel guides.
The coastline here opens toward the Singitic Gulf, with the peninsula of Mount Athos outlined on the horizon across the water. The landscape is low and sparsely built, with the long sands of Kriaritsi continuing along the shore, while a few kilometres inland sits the village of Sykia, which has kept its traditional character and, by tradition, took its name from a great fig tree.
The beach has fine sand and remains unorganized, without permanent facilities. Cafes and tavernas can be found nearby in the area's settlements, and access is by a paved road that reaches close to the shore, with roadside parking.
