The shaded sands that bear a saint's name

Agios Georgios lies on the eastern side of Ammouliani, Halkidiki's only inhabited island, between Megali Ammos and the harbour, a sandy beach that bears the name of Saint George.

Ammouliani lived for centuries as a dependency of the Vatopedi Monastery of Mount Athos, and in 1925 it was granted to refugees from the islands of the Propontis, who built its settlement here. At Agios Georgios, trees behind the sand offer natural shade, and the seabed continues sandy into the water.

The beach is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar, and tavernas nearby. It is reached by ferry from Tripiti and then via the island's road network, with parking close to the shore. The water is shallow.
