The accessible shore of a Cappadocian village
Nea Flogita lies in western Halkidiki, on the Thermaic Gulf coast, along the coastal road a few kilometres before Nea Moudania. The village is built on a rise above the sea, and a long sandy beach of roughly one kilometre spreads out below it.
It was founded in 1923 by refugees from Cappadocia, from Flogita (now Suvermez) in Asia Minor, from which it took its name. The village's seafront promenade, planted with hundreds of palm trees, gives the beachfront its distinctive look and is a meeting point on summer evenings.
The shore has facilities for visitors with disabilities: a ramp with a walkway leading toward the sea and an accessible toilet.
