The little beach below the coastal road

Althea beach sits at Agia Marina in Koropi, around the 35th kilometre of the Athens-Sounio coastal avenue in East Attica. It stays hidden below the road and is often also referred to as Skalakia, after the little steps that lead down to the shore.

It is a small corner of fine sand, enclosed between rocks and low slopes that give it a feeling of seclusion, even though the avenue runs directly above. The slopes cast natural shade in places, mainly in the last hours of the day, and the water is shallow close to shore.

The descent is by a short, easy path and steps from the small parking area above the shore. The beach is entirely unorganized, with no facilities, so visitors bring whatever they need with them.
