A pine-backed beach on Marathon Bay

About 5 km of fine golden sand with shallow, warm water, backed by a dense stone-pine forest that shades the edge of the sand. It often gets windy — a popular windsurf/kitesurf spot.

It is protected as the Schinias–Marathon National Park (Natura 2000), the most important coastal ecosystem in Attica; behind it sits the 2004 Olympic Rowing Centre. On Marathon Bay, site of the 490 BC battle.
