Mikro Sesi Beach, East Attica

See practical info for Mikro Sesi in East Attica, including location, beach type, wind exposure, map and tips to help you decide when to visit.

The little cove of Grammatiko

Mikro Sesi lies in northeastern Attica, near Grammatiko in the municipality of Marathon, on the southern shore of the South Euboean Gulf. It is the smaller of the area's two sister beaches, Sesi and Mikro Sesi, fronting a tiny settlement of a few, mostly holiday, houses.

The surrounding coastline also has an industrial past: it is reported that around 1880 a railway network operated from Grammatiko down to Ramnous, Sesi and Limniona, carrying ore to waiting ships. On the beach itself, tamarisk trees reach almost to the waterline, giving natural shade in places.

It remains a free beach without full organisation, with coarse sand and pebbles and shallow water. Access is by road from Marathon or Grammatiko, with a short passable dirt section at the end, and there is parking space nearby.
