Agios Onoufrios lies on the Akrotiri peninsula of Chania, Crete, about eight kilometres from the city, near Kounoupidiana. The small settlement and its beach take their name from the seaside chapel of Saint Onoufrios, whose feast day falls on June 12.
The coast forms small sandy coves facing north, looking out over the bay of Chania. Despite being so close to the city, it keeps a neighbourhood feel and is loved mainly by locals. A short distance away are Kalathas beach and the Venizelos Graves with their well-known view over Chania, and part of the shore has been awarded a Blue Flag.
It is organized, with seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas, food and tavernas nearby, accommodation in the area and natural shade in places. A paved road reaches almost to the sand, and the water starts out shallow.
