The sandy coves with the chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Agioi Apostoloi beach stretches about three kilometres west of Chania town, on the north coast of Crete. It is a series of sandy coves wrapped around a small green peninsula, topped by the chapel of Agioi Apostoloi, dedicated to the Twelve Apostles, which gave the whole area its name.

The peninsula's grove was not always there: the area is said to have once been barren ground, gradually planted with pines, eucalyptus and other trees until the greenery that crowns the little headland to this day took shape, making a pleasant spot for a stroll above the coves.

The beach is organized, with sunbeds, umbrellas, cafes and parking, fine sand and shallow water, and it is reached by a paved road along the city's coastal strip.
