Three coves at the cape of Selino
Krios lies about 10 kilometres west of Paleochora, on the southern coast of Selino in Chania. It takes its name from the homonymous Cape Krios, on whose eastern side it stretches, a shore roughly one kilometre long divided into three consecutive coves of fine pebbles and coarse sand.
The landscape here is among the starkest of southwestern Crete: bare limestone hills run down to the sea, while at the western end a large rock conceals a smaller cove with natural hollows in the stone. The European E4 footpath linking Paleochora with Elafonisi passes along the beach, and the entire coastline from Chrysoskalitissa to Cape Krios forms part of the Natura 2000 network.
The central section is organized, with seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas and food and water available close by. The shore is pebbly, without natural shade, and a paved road from Paleochora reaches close to the beach.
