The little cove below Lefkogeia
Schinaria lies on the south coast of Rethymno in Crete, in the Lefkogeia community of the Agios Vasileios municipality, a few kilometres east of Plakias. It is a small, open cove of fine beige-grey sand and small pebbles.
The little settlement of Schinaria was recognised as independent in 1991 and belongs to Lefkogeia. Near the beach is Trypiti, a natural opening that pierces straight through the rock, while the seabed is rocky in places and turns sandy at the northern end. A diving school is reported to operate on the shore.
It is a small, semi-organized beach with a taverna, a few sunbeds and umbrellas, and a parking area. Access is by a narrow surfaced road from Lefkogeia and Damnoni.
