The bay of Ponti and its windsurfing

Vasiliki lies at the southern tip of Lefkada, in the Vasiliki/Ponti settlement, on the broad bay of Ponti. It is a long shore of pebbles and coarse sand, best known as one of the most renowned windsurfing destinations in the Mediterranean.

The bay of Ponti runs for about a kilometre, and the stretch near Vasiliki village takes its name from it. The area's afternoon breeze, known among windsurfers as 'Eric', turned Vasiliki into an international centre for watersports, with windsurf schools and equipment rentals setting the tone.

Access is easy by road, along a paved road with parking nearby, while the village's tavernas and cafes sit beside the shore. The beach is not organised in the usual sense, but is dominated by watersports facilities.
