The small pebble bay among the olive groves

Ammoussa lies in southern Lefkada, near the village of Marantochori and a few kilometres from Vasiliki, a small pebble bay about seventy metres long. Its name recalls the Greek word for sand (ammos), though the shore itself is smooth pebbles and stones.

The bay is cradled by hills of olive groves and cypress, and the view opens across the Ionian toward the neighbouring islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca. It lies in a scenic spot on the south coast, set among the hills.

It is reached by a paved road down to the shore, where there is a taverna, parking and a little shade.
