The hidden cove beneath the cliffs

Avali is a secluded cove on the west coast of Lefkada, below the village of Kalamitsi, with white pebbles and coarse sand. It sits about 25 kilometres from Lefkada Town, where the coastline breaks into towering cliffs and dense greenery.

The cove stays tucked between high cliffs that drop to the sea, giving it the feel of a remote corner of western Lefkada. The path descending from Kalamitsi is also popular with hikers.

Access is from Kalamitsi along a narrow, downhill local road and a short walk down to the shore. In part of the beach the Avali bar operates seasonally with sunbeds and parasols, and there is parking nearby.

About this beach

Avali is oriented towards the west, so it usually has natural cover from southerly, south-easterly and south-westerly winds. Orientation only reflects which way the coast faces, not confirmed shelter, so check wind and waves in the app before you go.

Avali has sand and pebbles underfoot with shallow, gently shelving water — handy for families with young children.

For amenities, Avali has an organised beach, a beach bar, sunbeds and parking nearby. There is a campsite nearby (Kathisma, ~1916 m).
