Paralia Glyfadas Akti A stretches along the seafront of Glyfada, in the southern suburbs of Athens, and is one of the best-known free sandy beaches of the Athens Riviera. Fine sand and shallow water make it a classic urban beach, a few steps from Poseidonos Avenue.

The area is identified with the ancient deme of Aixone, said to have been famed in antiquity for its Aixonian red mullet. Around 1900 this shore was still pine-covered and almost uninhabited, until the interwar years brought bathing establishments, seaside venues and the rapid growth that made Glyfada a byword for coastal Athens.

The beach is free to enter and municipally run, with amenities such as umbrellas, showers and changing rooms, and parking close by. It is among the Greek beaches awarded the Blue Flag, while natural shade is limited, so bringing an umbrella helps.
