Mourtia: a wild cove on eastern Samos

Mourtia is a pebbled cove on eastern Samos, at the end of the Vlamari valley and a few kilometres from Vathy. Largely undeveloped, with pebbles and coarse sand, it faces the coast of Asia Minor across the water.

The beach is reached through the green Vlamari valley, among olive trees and pines, and remains in a natural state with no permanent facilities. In its waters you will often see the boats of the small Vlamari settlement lying at anchor.

Access is by a moderate dirt road that reaches the beach, where there is parking, while the vegetation offers some natural shade. It has no organised facilities, but there are tavernas and cafés nearby.
