The sandy shore named for the old currant trade

Paliostafida lies at Lassi, just outside Argostoli, on the western coast of Kefalonia. It is a fine-sand beach, also known as Bouka-Paliostafida, in one of the island's most developed tourist areas.

Its name, which literally means 'old currant', points to the history of black currant cultivation, the crop that for centuries brought wealth to Kefalonia. From the 16th century the Corinthian currant spread to the Ionian islands and became, alongside wine, one of the region's main exports.

It is an organized beach, with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, reached by a paved road with parking.
