The southern, naturist end of Avithos

Notia Avithos is the southern, naturist end of Avithos beach, on the southwestern coast of Kefalonia, near Spartia. A strip of fine golden sand with natural rock formations at its edges, it stands out as the most out-of-the-way part of the bay.

The name Avithos, 'without a bottom', is attributed to the neighbouring Lake Avithos: it is said that locals could never measure its depth and considered it bottomless. The place name passed from the lake to the wider area and to the beach.

This section is unorganized, with limited or no permanent facilities. Access is by a dirt road from the main Avithos area, over uneven ground, with parking near the entrance.
