The horseshoe bay of northwest Corfu
Agios Georgios Pagon forms a large, horseshoe-shaped bay on the northwest coast of Corfu, with sand stretching for about two kilometres. It lies around 45 minutes by car from Corfu Town.
Its name comes from the little church of Agios Georgios in the area, while "Pagon" points to the nearby village of Pagoi in the hills above and sets it apart from the island's other Agios Georgios beaches. The coastal settlement is relatively recent, growing up after 1975 with the tourism boom where once there was an almost deserted shore. The shoreline alternates between fine and coarser sand.
It is an organized beach, with beach bars, tavernas, sunbeds, umbrellas and parking. Access is by paved road down to the bay.
