The sand dunes beside the Korission lagoon

Issos beach lies on the southwest coast of Corfu, a vast stretch of sand whose rolling dunes divide the Ionian Sea from the Korission lagoon. It is one of the wildest and most sweeping shores on the island.

The Korission lagoon is the largest body of water on Corfu and is part of the Natura 2000 network, home to many bird species, among them flamingos. Over time the dunes shaped an almost desert-like landscape, striking enough that in 1981 it served as a filming location for the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only".

The beach combines organized and free sections, with seasonal beach bars and sunbeds and a car park. Access is by a paved, local road in the south of Corfu.
