A stretch of the south's endless golden sands

Santa Barbara lies on the southwest coast of Corfu, within the wider Marathias stretch, one of the island's longest sandy shores, about 35 kilometres south of Corfu Town. It forms part of an almost unbroken ribbon of fine, golden sand that it shares with neighbouring Marathias. The origin of its name remains unclear and is something of a small local mystery.

The beach belongs to the great sandy coast of the south, which begins further north at Agios Georgios and Issos and runs down to Marathias. Behind the dunes of Issos spreads the Korission lagoon, part of the Natura 2000 network. It is an open, expansive landscape of low dunes and wide sand, typical of southwestern Corfu.

It is an organized beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas, tavernas and a parking area. The ground is fine sand and access is by a paved road.
