The endless sands of the southern coast

Maltas belongs to the long sandy coast of southwestern Corfu, near the village of Perivoli, also known locally as Santa Barbara or Marathias. It is part of an almost endless strip of fine, golden sand that stretches for kilometres along the western shore.

The beach is identified with Santa Barbara and neighbouring Marathias, names locals use interchangeably for the same broad stretch. Most of it remains untouched and natural, with only a small organized section at the northern end, where it meets Marathias.

In the organized section there are seasonal sunbeds, umbrellas and water sports, while the rest of the expanse is free, with fine sand. Access is by a paved road near Perivoli.
