The Paleokastritsa cove of pebbles and green cliffs
Agia Triada beach sits in Paleokastritsa, on the west coast of Corfu, about 22 km from the town, one of the small coves of the bay. Its shore mixes pebbles and coarse sand and is framed by steep, green-clad cliffs. The name points to the Holy Trinity.
Paleokastritsa, whose name evokes an old castle and is linked to the Byzantine Angelokastro high on the hills, is famed for its 13th-century Monastery of the Theotokos and its sea caves. One tradition places here the mythical Scheria of the Phaeacians, where Odysseus was shipwrecked. Its coves, Agia Triada among them, open between densely wooded rocks.
Tavernas and cafes operate at the beach, and there is parking nearby. The rocks offer natural shade in places, and a pebbly seabed begins within the first few metres.
