Piso Gialia: the tucked-away cove

Piso Gialia is a small cove to the north of Chora, the capital of Andros, close to the village of Stenies. The beach of coarse sand and pebbles hides among the tall rocks that enclose it.

The cove lies just beyond the neighbouring beach of Gialia and stands out for its deeper water and the steep rocks around it. The descent is made by a flight of steps, roughly 120 of them, that begin at the little chapel of Agia Fotini up on the road.

Part of the beach is organized seasonally with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, while another part stays in its natural state. There is natural shade in places and parking close by, with a short walk down to the shore.
