Navagio Beach, Zakynthos

See practical info for Navagio in Zakynthos, including location, beach type, wind exposure, map and tips to help you decide when to visit.

Shipwreck Beach

An enclosed cove with sheer white cliffs and bright white sand, where the rusting hull of the ship "Panagiotis" still lies — it ran aground in 1980 (court records say while smuggling cigarettes and evading a pursuit). One of the most photographed beaches in the world.

It is reached only by boat; there is also a dramatic clifftop viewpoint. CAUTION: after landslides (2018, 2022), landing and swimming have at times been banned due to rockfall risk — check the current status before you go.
