The small cove at the tip of Vasilikos

Mavratzis lies on the Vasilikos peninsula in southeastern Zakynthos, a small sandy cove set between Agios Nikolaos and Porto Roma. The shore faces east, with fine sand along its waterline, and it is often counted as part of the wider Vasilikos beach.

The Vasilikos peninsula is the green southeastern tip of the island, a run of small sandy bays threaded between pine-clad hills and low Mediterranean scrub, reaching from Argasi down to Gerakas. Mavratzis belongs to this chain of successive coves, close to the bay of Agios Nikolaos with its little harbour, from where boats set out toward the southeastern coast.

It is reached by a paved road toward Vasilikos, with parking near the shore. The ground underfoot is fine sand.
