The small sandy cove on the north coast

Ammoudi lies on the northern coast of Zakynthos, about 14 kilometres northwest of the town, a small beach of fine sand that continues the shoreline of Alykes and Alykanas. It faces north, and its name, Ammoudi, is the Greek word for a small sandy cove.

The shore is an extension of the long beach of Alykes, which took its name from the alykes, the old salt pans that operated in the area until the late 1970s. Ammoudi is a small strip of sand at the end of this flat coastal front, and it is reported to have been awarded the Blue Flag several times.

It is reached by a paved road, with a parking area, and tavernas operate nearby. The ground underfoot is fine sand.
