The hidden cove beneath the olive trees

Zavia is a small, green cove in Thesprotia, just before you reach Syvota, north of Mikri Ammos and on the left side of the road towards Perdika. It is a short beach of coarse sand and pebbles, distinguished by the huge olive trees that reach almost to the water's edge.

Its most striking feature is the natural shade: the sand lies beneath enormous old olive trees, while a café hides among them just behind the shore. The cove is split into two smaller beaches, one of which is organized. The olive groves running down to the sea, typical of the Thesprotian landscape, give Zavia a more shaded, family feel than its livelier neighbour Mikri Ammos.

It is organized, with seasonal sunbeds and a beach bar, and offers ample parking under the tall trees. Access is by a paved road, just outside Syvota.
