Fyriplaka Beach, Milos

See practical info for Fyriplaka in Milos, including location, beach type, wind exposure, map and tips to help you decide when to visit.

The multicoloured volcanic cliffs

Firiplaka stretches along the south coast, with fine greyish sand and white pebbles beneath tall cliffs. What sets it apart is the colour of the rock: layers of red, pink, ochre and white, stained by sulphur, iron and manganese.

This is no accident: the beach lies on the rim of the Firiplaka volcanic crater, one of the youngest volcanic centres on the island. A perlite quarry works the slopes above it.

It is an organised beach, its turquoise water standing out against the dramatic volcanic backdrop.
