The sea daffodils at the head of the bay

Chavouli lies about three kilometres from Moudros, on Lemnos, at the head of a large bay, along the road towards the village of Skandali. It is a beach of golden, fine sand roughly three hundred metres long.

On its dunes grow the rare sea daffodils (Pancratium maritimum), white wild lilies that bloom at the end of summer. The bay of Moudros, onto which it opens, carries a heavy history: during the First World War it served as a naval base for the Allied fleet, and in 1918 the Armistice of Moudros, between the Allies and the Ottoman Empire, was signed in its waters.

The beach has no permanent organization, with cafés and tavernas a short distance away and parking nearby. Access is easy from the Moudros road.
